Male dalmation molly

I have one male dalmation molly left in my tank(all the females died a couple of months ago) he just hangs around near the filter and chases the other fish if they come near.

I am thinking of getting two females to try and calm him down, would this work?

Would it be ok to get black mollies for him to breed with?

I'd say yes, provided you are sure your tank is fully cycled and have no compatability problems with other tankmates. What did the females die of?

Perhaps you could tell us more about your set-up to be sure (size of tank, type of filters, water parameters and tankmates).

I think it was just a bad batch of Mollies as it was only the two females that died and one had a deformed fin.

Its a 20g with 5 real plants and a Fruval 3 plus filter, it has 5 platys, 3 swordtails, 1 male molly and a couple of platy fry
