Male Bristlenose

I had the opposite problem for quite a while. BN's are few and far between at the LFS, and whenever I got a decent-sized one it turned out to be a male. I also bought several small ones on several occaisons, but they died off for unknown reasons (even in 3 different tanks!) I finally got a group of fry that lived, sold them off when they grew a bit, then got a second group to raise. I now have a young male guarding eggs; only took about 4-5 years to get there.

They can die for a couple of reasons 1- insufficient types of food and 2- committing suicide by sleeping on the heater, I have lost a small bn and a beautiful snowball plec to heater suicides, you need a heater guard or at the very minimum put your heater vertical instead of horizontal or diagonal.
