Hi all, i have a male betta who just wont build a nest, any ideas why he wont? water etc is perfect, as another male i have has a nice nest ( different tank ).

Thanks for the help.

How long have you had him? If he's really new (like, you've had him less than a week) he might still be adjusting to a new routine and home.

Then again, he might just be a more cruisy type of betta and not be as eager.

hes not new, i had him for a while, any ideas on getting him to make a nest? lol

The other males are fine, iv checked for disease etc and nothing comes up and he isnt acting funny either..maybe hes just GAY lol :p

Have you got any females? Maybe placing their tank near his will encourage him..... :hey:

If you don't mind me asking, why do you need him to build a bubble nest? Are you trying to spawn?

One of my males builds nests like 1 inch high and my other wouldnt build any....until i moved him to a slightly bigger tank, and he build a little one a few days after. So maybe hes not happy in the size tank?

the betta will bubblenest when its happy usually. Some never will nest it just depends on the betta.if you have a strong current from the filter/pump/airstone etc the nest will be washed away :D

I've got a boy in a nice, clean, warm tank next to a female (for a bit).

He blows tons of bubbles along his plants, but in such away it creates a row and not a nest :p Everytime!

In his tank i have a heater, its heated to 20 deg. C.

I havent got ANY filter current nor airstone that is strong enough to even move a nest lol..same filter and airstones in the other male betta tanks as well.

I might move him to a bigger tank, hes in a 2ft tank with one female, what are some other methods to induce bubble nests? the female with him is extremely plump and is ready to spawn, i dont want to spawn her with other females as she and her partner are both crowntails and the others are diferent types.
