is this common for the male ram to chase the female ram all over the tank actually not leaving her alone and then when she does finally hide he will go look for her, ive been watching this for the past day and i dnt think it is normal behaviour the female looks abit stressed.

this happens with mine a lot they dont seem to harm each other though. he could be hassaling her to breed. if you are really worried you could sepearte them with a divider or place the ram in another tank

Hi, I have the same problem. But my female is very young and small about 3cm (1.5 inches), I bought her two weeks ago and everything was fine until today. She really got hurt.

So I move the male to a another tank. How long should I wait to put them together?

This has happened with my bolivian rams and my blue rams. The bolivian rams spawned after a couple weeks of very aggressive behavior by the male (we were to the point where we almost took him back). The blue rams have been doing it for a while now, no spawning though. I wouldn't worry about it, unless you can see some sort of damage on either fish. Do they have good places to hide if one of them needs a break?

ahhhh ok thy arnt hurting each other jst harrassing and kinda abit of push and shove, it does look like fighting but no harm done to each other yet, i think im going to get a cave so she can hide more but he doesnt leave her side and neither does she so it could be pointless ??

How old are the Rams?

when they are young its sometimes hard to tell a male from a female, it isnt till a little later the male crown and elongated dorsal fin grows in properly. Could it be 2 makes you have, or are positive its one of each?

Just a thought :)

This is normal behaivor for Rams. Mine do it too. He's "macking" on her - they'll wind up spawning.

A lot of store bought Rams are sterile because they are bred in Asia and they get pumped up with hormones before they get shipped out.

That said, I have a pair of store bought Rams that have successfully spawned twice now. Your Rams may be just fine.
