I want a cave :D but when i looked in fish shops one was a staggering £49.99, apparently its the best (pets at home) go in store and look its ridiculous

Not alot but that pays for half a tank! It is alot for 1 decoration

There anyway of making your own? :D

There was also one for £12.99 but it kept floating to top of my tank is was so cheaply made

I use 2inch bits of PVC tubing and just cover it with slate. Does the trick for me but it depends what kind of look you are going for. The PVC pip I use are curved sections and T joiners you can probably get at your LFS as pond pipe connectors.

You can see the pipe in here but when you have water in and it is lit from the top you cant see it.

Your tank is STUNNING

holy. awesome.

yeap the whole idea is having pvc pipes, diameter depending on your fishes, and pile up rocks over them.

Gravel, Clay pot, Silicone

Break the pot, silicone odd pieces together.

Smear silicone on the entire outside, roll in dry gravel. Let dry. Add to tank and cover with more gravel.

I've also covered PVC (white) and ABS (black) plumbing pipes with silicone, then rolled in gravel to match the bottom. They've last almost 20 years. The fish love a network of various tees and whys - entering and exiting across the bottom of the tank. Unfortunately the only way to get a fish out, if necessary, is picking up the pipe and putting a net at the end as the pipe network is withdrawn from the tank.

Could I just question the measurements in the first post..... 2ft x 1ft x 11"----- thats not a cave - its a 50L tank :D :D

I make and sell slate caves - Plecs love to hide and breed in them :)
they are about 5"x2"x1"

No my tank is not a cave I just wanted somewhere for my fish to go for extra protection from lights or whatever :D

Just another feature really

so the measurements were not for the cave you wanted... thats the tank measurements... I've got you.

Smithrc, How much do you charge for them, can you ship them to the US? Or would it be easier to make my own. What would I use to glue them together? Simply aquarium silicone?

terracotta plantpots, cut in half, make nice ready made caves. they are avaliable in so many sizes, there is one for every need. Cheap too.
