Hello

I have a ide of making my own ornament's but i dont know what you can put in a tank and what i can't. What glue do thay use for plastic plants and do i need a paticular plastic and paint to not poison the fish and ?

My thought whas to make a floting submarin underwater with maybe some water mines and some cliff's. Very simmeler to "Find Nemo" where Nemo's dad meet the shakrs. I where thinking of buying a plastic set of submarins and some boat that have sunk etc.

The oter ide i hade wher to lower water level down so you can see the water and lay a plastic layer and paint it to look like ice and snow ( But not cover the entier top )and have a iglu with a fhiserman with some oter things maybe a mounten ( Only as much as you can see ) and under the water maybe more plastic to look like ice with a tunnel and some oter things that i havent thought of yeat.

Somthing like that eny way maybe i do somthing very difrent. I have not found meny of thes kinds of ides out on the net so i understand if it sounds very odd but as long the fish love it and it looks nice way not.

It would be great if someone could help me name some brands or oter plastic and glue and paint that will work for this kind of things in a fish tank.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, if you go for pre-made items, you should get ones made for the fish tank. Of course, those decorations are made to SINK (some don't, of course, because they are poorly made, I had an incident one time, I was giving a speech about how to set up an aquarium, and to my dismay the decoration I used FLOATED, how embarrassing!) Toy submarines not made for fish tank use may leech chemicals that will poison your fish. You considering that when you decorate shows that you are a responsible fish keeper. Also, they may be painted with lead paint that will poison your fish. For the submarine or the ice and igloo you could use this foam I've read about called Handi-Foam. I read an article about it being used in reef aquariums and ponds. Here's a quote from the article
"It adheres to all surfaces except Teflon, silicon, and polyethylene, and it expands to two to three times it's extruded bead size, making it simple to wind up with a lumpy-looking, almost natural, black lava-like appearance by controlling the amount applied in various areas. Best of all, it is really non-toxic, as the animals in the system thrived."

I have never used this product, but I guess to make the submarine you could make it the rough shape then smooth down with sandpaper. Sorry that I can't help you with the paint problem.

Your colour choice for you font makes reading what you've typed difficult? Is that the same for everyone or is there something wrong with my laptop?
