Making My Tank Brighter?

Hello,

I have a Juwel Vision 180 fish tank, in black (of course )..

I have black gravel too, so the tank just looks really dark. I dont have a backing on at the moment as it made it look even darker!!

I dont have the original light unit for the tank as when bought second hand the lights didnt work.. so using fish tank bulbs but with our 'home-made' connectors inside of the tanks light unit..

Anyone have any opinions on how i can make the tank look a little brighter?

Sticky vinyl.....just wrap the tank plastics in whatever colour/effect you fancy, changed my Trigon from Beech effect to Walnut in 4 hours (inc. stand) for about £15

Change the gravel out for sand.

Why not just add some cardimine or some other easy bight green plant? 10k-15k bulbs will help also

IMO blue backing looks like crap in anything but a sw tank.

well i gave the tank a good clean today and it seamed to have brightened up a little, i have bunched all of my plants in one corner and put my ornaments to the other side so i have more gravel space.. it seams to look alot better..

I went from sand back to gravel because i got bored of the sand ahaa.

would another light in the tank make a difference? or will it just be a little bit different.

It will be brighter so colours will stand out more but that's all.

I use bright colored plants to make it stand out more with black gravel, Also having brighter colored fish with the plants helps :3

With black sand getting a black background can actually bring out the colours better. Get some redmoor wood, which is brighter. Plant some nice green plants and if your fish are brighly coloured, you are done.

If you have T8 fixtures keep your eyes open for some GE 9325K bulbs. They are fantastic.

Note the 400nm and 420-440nm spike. Makes everything pop!
