Hi All

After re-decorating my bathroom and having lots of tiles left over i have been wondering what to do with them.

My girlfriend gave me the idea as she said she wanted some behind her tank as a background.

Well I know swimming pools are covered with tiles so what about a fish tank covered with tiles? Can it be done?

How would i make it waterproof?

Attaching tiles in a wet room environment, (shower cubicles etc.), uses a special type of tile adhesive. Yoy spread the adhesive over the entire area, (i.e. not blobs in each corner of the tile), and set the tiles into the bed of this material. After that, you use a waterproof grout to fill the cracks between the tiles.

I know this because I have tiled several bathrooms in my time.

In a tank, I wouldn't have a clue if the materials were toxic. Most "bathroom" materials contain fungicides to prevent mould growth which are toxic to fish. I couldn't be certain though.

Errm, a tiled tank, that sounds, errrm, lovely... -_- ;)

It was just a thought that i've decided not to go through with.

I'm now not so keen on a tiled tank.
Cheers for all the help though.
