making a stand ahhhh

if you have a strong wall, then you could get some heave duety brackets and put it on a shelf at that size. it would only weigh 12.5 Kg.

 I built a stand and canopy for my 100 gallon tank, made it out of 3/4 plywood on top and 4 4x4 legs with 2x4 infrastructure. i'll post pics tomorrow

Wow, that garf site is great!! I've got a couple of good size plecos that will be needing a larger home than the 50g they are now in, and building one seems doable. Have to finish taping and painting the drywall in the basement family room first, and side the garage before it gets too cold. Has anyone else built their own tank before? It doesn't seem too difficult compaired to finishing a basement.

Recently made a stand for my 30 gal tank, used 2x4 for the legs with a 2x2 frame work top and 3/4 way down. The top I then finished with 3/4" boarding planks and also used these to make a shelf. Everything held together with brackets and also 10mm screws.

If you make it properly there shouldn't be any shearing stress on any of the screws in fact the 2x2 rest on top of the 2x4.
