I want to get a couple of apisto's and I know that they spawn in caves. So I was thinking of breaking a flower pot, and if I covered the outside of it with some silicone, then rolled it in sand, will the sand stick to it (trying to make it look more natural)? Because I dont like the looks of having just a flower pot in the middle of my tank.

Sounds like an idea. Use aquaruim safe silicone though. Personally, what i would do to make it look more natural and less rounded, is build up some of the layers with sharp stones and silicone so you get peaks, dips and grooves. Then silicone over that and pour the stones over that! Just an idea ;)

Indeed.

Take one clay non treated flower pot. Break/saw/shape as neccessary.

Now directly silicon on: a few mid sized flat pebbles (or slate, or whatever you like).

when dry, add some smaller stones in groups around the larger.

Finally, coat the rest in silicon, shake on/press on some small grave, then sand over the top to fill the gaps.

Or another option is to get a small pipe and just bury it in the substrate so just entrance is visible.
