My backgrounds are made of pink styrofoam And all nontoxic paints with a polyurethane plus hardener to seal it all in. I made a background for a friend about a year ago and he has had no problems. The background looks great also he has had no fish loss. My backgrounds are not glued in so you can take them out once in awhile for cleaning or make changes. My cost go's with the size of your tank and what needs to be done. The brack down is about $5.00-and up per gallonThanks Monte.
