The only shrimps I tend to see are Amano (nice enough), but I am interested in having a diverse number of types, which for me would suggest mail order. Do they stand up well to this, and do the delivery companies phone prior to ensure you are at home?

Where do you live dave?

In general, shrimp do not ship well. I've tried this a few times myself and though I was ultra careful with acclimatising etc. I still had significant losses :( So if you go this route, buy at least 50% more than you actually want, to make up for DOA or death within the first couple of weeks.

I am currently residing in N. Wales, not far from Chester.

If mail order means a few of them will die then I would rather go hunting further afield and buy them from retailers.

Ok well I'm sure there are going to be some good shops around your area or even in manchester area.

You have to talk to the retailers and see what they can get in for you, most LFS will try their hardest to get what you want. My LFS now stocks cherry and bumble bee shrimp because I asked them to get them in, I also taught them how to keep the shrimp because they didn't have a clue.

Same goes for fish, just ask.... :)

hi B2k2
don't mean to muscle in
but where is your local lfs that keeps cherry reds and bumble bees?
I'm in Eastleigh
Many thanks!
