Both Wuv and Yeevi have mailed me bettas and when they got here they looked like crap, but after a day in new water, they perked right up, I still have every single one mailed to me still.

:D :D I am a beginner here in the Betta world. I didn't even know that there were different kinds until I came into this forum. You guys have been the best at answering my questions and putting up with my constant curiosity...THANX! :) :D
PS: I am addicted now, and it is all your fault...lol.

If they're packed properly (double-bagged, heat pack if necessary, packing peanuts or similar, styrofoam box inside a cardboard carton) and sent via a reliable air express service, you should have no problems.

Bettas I've had shipped to me via air express courier (within Australia) have arrived within 24 hours, and were as lively and fresh-looking as when they were sent. How long the fish are in transit obviously depends on the distance involved and how good the courier service is. Up to 48 hours is okay, I think, but personally I wouldn't want them to be in transit any longer than that,.

I have received 15 fish in the mail, from 2 different people in the last couple of weeks. Both using USPS overnight mail. THe first shipment (10 Bettas) arrived a day late. All were alive, and in perfect condition (no damage to fins) The second shipment (5 Bettas) arrived on time, but a couple were sick, and 1 died that night. But, they had to have been sick before they were even packed to be mailed.
I would say go for it. BUT make sure you have them sent overnight, and that they are reputable. ** Also make sure you have the seller describe the color of the fish. Many times the fish you see in a pic, is not the color of the fish in person.
