Has anyone else noticed that the Maidenhead Aquatics website had gotten really good for fish profiles?

I can’t help but notice that their profiles are quite let’s say similar to Seriously Fish… however it also seems to be more up to date as it feels like Seriously Fish is not being updated as regularly as a few years ago which is understandable (our own profiles are hardly stellar examples!).

The images look very professional, way more professional than even some wholesalers.
you guys are lucky to have such a large aquarium chain store!

I really love the Aquadiction site for looking for new fish and seeing fish profiles. Although I always research the fish in question on other sites as well to be sure.

Woah, that really is a hidden gem! website design and functionality are also very fast!

I know the owner of Seriously Fish, so if you come across any questionable data on Seriously Fish, let me know.

Some of the recommended school sizes seem a little short of what we've been talking about here. They often go with an 8-10 number as opposed to 10-12. Otherwise, they are invaluable.

yeah, many other websites say 6-10, but anything under 10 acts similarly and anything over or equal to 10 acts completely different

Thanks Byron - you might want to suggest that they take a look at the Maidenhead site as its a bit close...

In terms of issues with Seriously Fish, its mainly just them keeping up to date as things develop and evolve - names, field data etc. I'm often scouring for hardwater species and I do find inconsistencies but nothing massive but just takes a bit longer to understand something - it just seems like the Maidenhead site is being updated regularly by presumably an employee and I'd probably say that for me they have just nudged past Seriously Fish for the amount of info and how upto date it is - though like I've suggested its not fully fair as I'd suspect Seriously Fish is at the very least a source for the other websites content.

I'll check out Maidenhead. The way SF is built also causes issues depending upon the data that is revised.

Hello. Never heard of this place. But, this seems like a really odd name for a company.

Maidenhead is a town in Berkshire where the first shop opened. It has since then been franchised I believe and Maidenhead Aquatics are now nationwide 👍🏻

Yep - generally a pretty reliable store if you get one near you, mine used to be the best in the area but one other has slightly nudged it in recent years.

We’re really not. Most stores are terrible (most are franchises), staffed by people who just want a job and know nothing about fish. A few are good, the ones with managers that are knowledgable and care, but they’re very much a minority.

i see, I guess all the big-box stores are like that. but it definitely has more variety than a general pet store, right?
In the end, i still will prefer to stick to local and small businesses with better and more passionate staff.
