I was browsing on the internet for tanks and I came across a product called ' Magnafloat ' or something like that. It said it cleans your tank for you but I don't get how it would work. Could someone who owns one please tell me how it works before I purchase one? Thanks. :)

One part goes on the outside of your tank and the other on the inside. The one on the inside has something like an abrasive felt material covering it. They then stick together via magnets. You then move it around your glass to remove the algae on the inside of the glass.

I don't like these products though because if even the smallest grain of sand gets trapped between the magnets, you scratch your glass like mad :X

Oh dear. If a grain of sand is bad I wonder what a pebble would do!

Does it get rid of Green Algae because that's really hard to get rid of with a sponge ( I think it's impossible! ) If so, I might consider buying one.

Thanks for the information, Bloo! :good:

If you mean green spot algae, then I'm afraid no :/ The only thing I found that helps for that is a green scouring pad.

I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of them then. Won't the algae just go on it's own eventually though? -_-

i have one, they are quite handy for killing snails lol  but then you have to pick the snail bits off
works good aswell :good:

forget all other algae scrapers, pads, floats etc.. and just get one of these.

you'll clear an entire 40G with heavy spot algae in about 10 mins with one hand and you wont even break a sweat just attach a standard razor blade to the blue end and away you go. just be carefull not to chop your nosey fish in half in the process.

2nd product in the list scraper/planter

i have used this tool for about a year and never use anything else in my tanks apart from tweezers for glosso planting. get one, you wont look back

I have used these for DECADES ! I did swap to the double magnet scourer (because im lazy !) but not for long as they always end up scratching the glass :-(

The razor bit is reversable to protect nosey kids, and the blade... this way round is good for popping snails against the glass too ! :hyper:

How are you guys all get scratches using the magnets? I have used them for over a decade and have only scratched my tank once when I was being a dumbass. I could see that they wouldn't be ideal with sand, but with gravel they have always worked well for me.
