Firs this is a tank that used to house oscars. when they died I removed the bodies but never drained the tank and it evaporated down to maybe 1 inch above the gravel so I had a nice mess to clean.

Today spent the day getting it more ready. Washed 55lbs of gravel and manage to not burn my hands much on the boiling water. Same goes for washing out the entire filter assembly. Got some new media for it from LFS while there I was admiring the new arrivals. Got the gravel in the power heads cleaned. Cleaned all the tubes for the cannister filter. All I've got left is clean the glass lid fire up the light and then clean the glass on the front(can't clean it till I've got the lid on. Don't want to risk windex in the tank)

Sorry for the dirty glass but as I said I don't want to risk windex in my new water.
should be able to start the fishless cycle tomorrow

Unlike my father DAY 1 who gets the tank out of the box. Day 2, gets stuff out of box DAY 3 Gets gravel DAY 4 gets rocks... yeah it took about a week when it should have taken a day or 2 if you worked hard.

only thing agravating me is when I turn on the light you can still see some marks on the inside of the glass that were left when the old water evaporated. I scrubed the hell out of them prior to filling it. I guess I have to live with them. I can't even scrape it off the glass it seems to have fused with it. oh well not a huge deal with some plants you'd never see it

But yeah took me a full day to clean the tank. Another full day to get it ready again.
