hi

i have made my mind up i am changing over to marine :bigemo_harabe_net-163:

i am keeping my tank that i have at the min http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200679123074?ssPageName=STRK:MEUSX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1562.l2649 so you can see a lot better what i am talking about !

the tank is 470ltrs its running a pound filter at the min as the Malawi are a messy fish and over stocked

So what i am asking is-

I cant run the filter system as it stands ?

Could change the pump easy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180652592034?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 :)

But i am thinking i cant us filter bucket as i have looked and there is screws on the under side of the lid but the screws are stainless steel ???

or would i be better of running 2x ASP 2000EF+ ???

i am new to marine setup so trying to work out how much i need to filter the tank ? with malaiws you go for the most you can get

i am trying to work out what filter rate i want on marine my tank is 5ft.2ing x 18inc x 2ft so i am thing that 1kg of sand = 1ltr of water and 1kg of rock = 1ltr ??

is the above right please ????

so setup would be

1 x asp 2000el+ as i one already

1 x Boyu DG-2516 skimmer

1 x Precision Hydrometer

Id didtch the the filters completely, in marine they arent used for bacteria like in freshies. The bacteria that filters out tanks usually live in live rock which is a far more effective method of filteration. This means that unless you are constantly cleaning the filter meida it cloggs up with crap and eventually polloutes your water.
