i made two short baffles for my sump in the refufugium and was wondering if I should put miricle mud in it to help growth of the macro algaes, employ a dsb or fill it will live rock rubble. I was thinking miricle mud am i correct?

It measures the width of the tank along the bottom about a foot long and 2 inches high

I don't have experience with the mud, but I heard from someone on here... (maybe AK?) that a DSB is usually preferred to over the mud.

I've not used the mud myself but I think rabbut has, if memory serves.

2 inches isn't really deep enough for a DSB. Remember, the whole point of a DSB is that there is little to no flow in the lower regions so that anaerobic bacteria can seed there. In 2 inches, its unlikely that little, if any would seed there.

As for the miracle mud, you may have problems with the mud becoming fluidized as it gets caught in the current from only having a 2" barrier. Obviously this will depend on the location of the inlet and return pump in relation to the refugium, and how much flow is passing over the baffles. If you can increase the baffle height to 5" or more, then you could have a 4" DSB. If you don't have any glass, some acrylic would do it.

i have come up with a shroud and cunning plan...

The bit described will have miracle mud.

I will put a 6 inch dsb where the prizm skimmer will go and inlet to the sump. Of course i will leave a clearance to prevent any stirring of the bed
