Which macro algea would be best in a sump. under regular fluorescent lighting, removes most nitrAtes and is the harest.

Caulerpa - isn't that supposed to be bad news for aquariums?

Caulerpa is the fastest growing and most prolific. Thus its ability to take out nutrients outstrips most other macro algaes.

However it does come with dangers. Dont let it get into the maintank or you will be haging problems removing it.

Make sure its reguarly pruned and the light is kept on in the sump24/7. This will help prevent the algae going sexual and dumping its collected nutrients back in the water.

I dont use Caulerpa in my sump for these very reasons. My algaes grow slower but i am happy with this. I use Haliptilon, Halymenia, Halemeda and Cheatomorpha
