So I bought two lyretail mollys for my cycled 10 gallon tank that I had empty for a while after the cats knocked the heater plug out of the tank while we where on vacation and killed all the fish. I decided I just wanted two fish and thought that lyretail mollys where pretty and didn't get too big. I came home made sure the temperature was at 78, and put the bag into the water to let them acclimate as you are supposed too. Came back, the black molly was dead, (white one is fine so far) always frustrating when that happens, then as I was getting it out of the bag it slipped out into the tank and this strange creature came off of it. I captured it in an old clear plastic cup. It has kinda a big head that has black on the tip a long thin body and a black tip at the end it's probably half a cm.... if even that. Doesn't move much unless you jiggle the water then it wiggles around. Anyone know what this is?

This thing is tiny, I don't think I have a camera that would show it very well. (I only have cell phone camera and DSI camera)

this:

that will work and has this tank been fully 100% cycled with water tested

Yes but that doesn't really matter as I hadn't taken the fish out of the bag that it came in....

wheres the fish o_O?

I care more about the weird thing in the middle of the picture, the parasite looking thing that came off of it, that's what I want to know about, the fish has no outer signs of any damage, or anything.

wow...

is the other mollie in the bag?

if so net her into your aquarium and monitor her

bin the bag.

RE Edit : Yea... return both of them first thing tomorrow to avoid comtaimation of your tank.

Dont buy fish form the store again either

also dont go for black mollies..

i would recommend guppys..

Yes the other molly is in the tank, and so far is still alive, I'm checking on her every so often and checked the water and all the levels are normal, but as I said it was dead in the fish stores water not mine so I didn't think that needed to be posted.
I'm not too worried about the tank as no one else lives in there as I said my cats knocked the heater (I now have the plugs guarded) out and killed the 3 fish I had in there before (all guppys)
I bred guppies for a while, kinda done with guppies honestly ^^()
I wasn't even going to get any more fish for this tank because I want to go back to having a 30 gallon, (since 10's are a pain in the butt maintenance wise) but it looked so lonely and empty I decided two fish wouldn't hurt -.-

And camera wise, honestly I'm a video game geek and kinda a shut-in (I work from home as an accountant) and as such don't have many friends haha >.> My boyfriend only has the DSi, maybe a camera is what we need for christmas haha.
