I have a lyretail molly who I believed had an internal parasite so I treated for that. The medication also treated for hole in the head. Anyways It's been about 3 weeks since I treated and I've been waiting for him to get better but he hasn't. He is still thin thin even though he eats. His head now seems to of lost it's coating and there are tiny holes on his head. Now I've noticed that he'll lay on his side and shake like he's having a seziure. As soon as this episode is over though he'll swim around like normal. They are happening more and more frequently.

I am thinking I should euthanize him as I think he's suffering and I've tried treating him and it hasn't worked.

What do you all think? It really hurts me to see him shaking like that. My boyfriend doesn't want me to do it but if he's suffering I think it's the best choice. I don't think he is going to get better...I think it's neurological now.

Thanks!

I'm really sorry...that's sad! If it were me, I'd euthanize, only because the seisures seem to be occuring more frequently...but that's just me.

Hi jrd77,

Yeah I decided to euthanize him yesterday....it was so hard for me to do but I figured if I own fish it's something that sometimes has to be done.

Thanks for your reply!!!
