Whats the best way to stop my ruby barbs eating all my plants?

I have tried putting in lettuce and cucumber but they just arn't interested!

But love eating all my plants!

My Tiger Barb will only eat flakes, granules, and any live foods I put into the tank, and will not touch the cucumber I sometimes I add. They're more meat-eaters than plant-eaters, so I'm surprised that they're having a go at your plants.

How often are you feeding them because they sound like they're hungry to try eating plants.

Normally i feed them twice a day and give them flakes and bloodworm.

it isn't all the plants. i recently added some larger plants which are green with red edges to the leaves. It is these that they seem to love to eat.

I am thinking of removing them as the tank is now becoming full of dead bits of plant!

Many barb species will nibble plants, but very few do it sufficiently to do any real damage. Certainly Ruby Barbs are not famous plant eaters. What is interesting is...

>>> plants which are green with red edges to the leaves

... makes me wonder about a couple of related things, are these plants truly aquatic plants, and if they are, do you have enough light. Red plants demand high light levels, if they don't get it, they will die and rot. If the plants are non aquatic, they will die and rot. In either case, they will become soft, and the barbs will munch away on them.

What kind of plants are these?
