Lunar Lighting....

Has anyone ever just tried coloring the bulb with blue thick paint to get the lunar effect while dimming the light enough that algea won't grow?

i havnt but couldnt you just use a blue bulb from the fish shop or blue leds probably cost the same as the glass paint

I can't find any bulbs in the size that I would need. I also can't find anything for less than 25 to put LED's on my tank.
