Hey everybody,
I saved a goldfish from my boyfriend's tank. It had a jewel cichlid that picked on this particular goldfish and his caudal fin is almost all eaten away. Is there anything I can do to help it heal quicker and better?
Thanks!

How big of a tank do you have it in?
Are there any other fish with it?
Do you have Aquarium salt?

If you have Aquarium salt I would put in a tablespoon per 5 gal. Then cover the tank with a towel to let it stay calm. If this is a new tank set up I would check water conditions daily to make sure there is no spikes that could hurt the fish.

It's a 20 gallon with a Chinese algae eater (yes i know its tropical and the goldfish is coldwater), I did put some aquarium salt in last week and i put in 1 tbl per 5 gallons. I have been checking the water conditions because it is a new tank.
How often should I put the aquarium salt in? I am yet to find the max I can put in, aka once a day for a week max etc.

That should be enough to aid healing and stop any fungus from attacking. You only need to add more salt when you do a water change. Say you take out 5 gallons then only add back 1 tablespoon.
