when going to feed my fish i noticed that the fish tank cabinet was wet, when i opened the cupboard door on the cabinet my external filter was leaking, luckily i saw it when i did or i could of had nearly 50 gallons of water all over my floor, any way decided that the externals are going to be a thing of the past for me after that,so could anyone reccomend a good internal for my 50 gallon
thanks

IMO there isn't an internal that will cover a 50g. What brand of filter was it? Fluval are renowned for leaking, and IME Rena aren't a great deal better  Eheim and Tetratec are the best two arround, the first having the best reputation. In the 14 years I've been in the hobby, I've never heard of a leaking Eheim, and only once of a leaking Tetratec :good: In that time though, I've heard of three leaky Renas and about 6 leaking Fluvals  Never heard anything bad about Aqua one exturnals, but then again, I haven't realy heard much thats good about them. Same with JBL. The issue is that they aren't as readily available IME, so less people run those two brands.

If you have your heart set on the less effective filter type, go with 2-3 Fluval 4's, as these are the best internals arroundm but you will need two IMO for the filtration of them to even get close to that of a good exturnal :good:

All the best

thanks for the info, the external is a aqua pro-2sp,the funny thing is it didnt leak fro the o-rings or where the top of the filter attatches to the base, its where there are 2 cutouts for you to pick it up ive never heard of a filter leaking from there

It will be the seals on the bit that connects the hoses to the main filter body then.... Its one of the two places that Fluvals fail from. Sorry, I'm not formiliar with your brand
