I currently have:
10 gallon fresh water (8months old)
75 gallon fresh water (6months old)
28 gallon JBJ Nano saltwater(1.5months old)

I just started in salt water but I have had immense help from friends. My tank is cycled. It helped having live sand, 20lbs of cured live rock, and my friend lent me a a blue damsel to start off with.
My inhabitants are now:
2 Emerald Crabs.
4 Red Legged Hermit crabs
4 Nassarius Snails
4 Cerith Snails
4 Astrea Snails (which have laid many eggs)
1 Maroon Clown (about 3 inches in size)
1 Fuzzy Dwarf Lion (about 4 inches in size)
also have a good buildup of coralline algae (green mostly, some pink and purple)

First question is:
I received my fuzzy dwarf lion 2 weeks ago. It took me a week but he's finally eating ghost shrimp. He eats about 2 every 2 days. I couldn't get him to eat frozen krill or silversides, even dipped in garlic guard. I would prefer he eat those because I'm currently hosting about 20 ghost shrimp in my 10gallon freshwater. I even tried at the end of a clear tube. Then about 2 days ago he shed all of his skin, which I researched is supposedly normal, but then I noticed a few white patches. I can't tell whether they are Ich or just leftover shed skin because he shook off more today. But then that leads to my second question.

I started watching my clown and he has a white dusting on the top of his head, I don't seem to notice any white spots, but everyone is eating normally, actually eating rather well. I don't have a quarantine tank and I don't know if I can set one up in time. Am I overreacting or what action should I take? Btw, this is also my first post to the forum, heh.

Firstly Welcome!

Unfortunately I do not know the answer to your question about the lion fish.

As per the film on the clown, what does it look like, furry? Shinney? Smooth? Rough? Cotton wooly? White? Off White? Cream? Be as specific as you can. Also what are your readings. It could be ammonia burns, could be salt burns (how do you mix your salt) could be fungus, and more importantly it could be nothing!!

Ammonia = 0
Nitrates = 2ppm
PH = 8.3
Salinity = 1.023
Calcium = 490

All tested with Salifert tests, except the Salinity with my refractometer.

It's more of a brown dusting I guess on the clown. I tried adding ich attack to the tank, but things seem to be getting worse.

I hope its not but google Velvet (Oödinium pilularis)

You need to take the fish out of the display tank and treat, think its copper sulphate, but check please.

The main display tank will need to have a time fallow - turn the lights off and bring the temp up :good:

I hope its not :sad:
