Went to a new fish shop (new to me anyway) Rare Aquatics in Crewe.

Run by two young hobbyists who gave up their jobs to set up the shop last year.

Good pleacs are getting harder to find and this place has a good selection at decent prices and the tanks look extremely well kept.

Theree were lots of L134,L64,L263,L91 L260 and large Royals Chubby plecs, vampire plecs of which I bought one, snowdrop plec and plenty more plus lots of apistos and corys and shrimps

welll worth a look if you are in the area and certainly one I will travel an hour to again in the future

:good:

They also had L91 in which I might get and I bought an L029 Galaxis which is stunning

Awesome, I'm going here on Friday morning on the way up to Blackpool for the weekend!! Really excited now you have said it is pretty good.

Just a little gutted that I am not able to buy anything until I have all my tanks set up in the Summer. Oh well at least I can drool!

If you go up M6 then come off at M58 Wigan junction and go to Pier Aquatics in Wigan that is truly the best place I have been in the country

Rare is cool if you like plecs

Well.....funny you should say that, I was going to go to Pier but after I spent an hour in Rutland Maidenhead my g/f has said she will disown me if we ever have to spend another hour in a shop when I am not going to buy anything! (even though I do it every week when we go clothes shopping with her, ) Therefore I thought I would give Pier a miss until later in the year when I can go on my own and as I am going to be setting up 2 Plec tanks I thought it would be good sto see what Rare Aquatics have to offer so I can decide where to get my Plecs from when I have the tanks set up, and the money!!

Jealous you've got such a good pleco store near you :shout: Can you give us the rough prices of the plecos there, to see if they are as well-priced as you say! :hey: :shifty:

Carlove the prices are online ha ha
decent size L91 were £39, L142 Snowballs are £20

Which fish shops are those?
The only one I know of in the London area that specialises in L Plecs is Wildwoods and they are very expensive £££££££

Too many stores to mention, but Wholesale Tropicals has quite a good selection of L number plecos. One thing is for sure - Wildwoods is rubbish, I really hate that store :grr:

They are too expensive.
Surely the can't justify charging double for ordinary fish.

They do get some interesting oddballs though.

Totally agree, its unnacceptable for them to bump up the price of fishes by 2X, 3X or 4X more than other stores.

I went here on Friday and they didn't ahve any Zebs in at all so must have sold out. The condition of the fish and the maintenance being undertaken was second to none though.

I had a good chat with the owners and will be only buying my L-numbers from here. It is sooo hard to get somewhere that knows how to look after L's properly and Jo and Nick really hit the spot!

Would defo advise on a visit, only 10 minutres from the M6.
