Well recently I've found there are a lot of a particular type of fly coming into my bedroom and I'm not sure why or where they came from. I'm killing they when I see them but I don't understand why this is an occurrence all of a sudden. I know flies like water but despite having the drinks aquarium in my room they have not been around the last two years. They are about three to four mm long, any ideas?

Probably nothing to do with the tank. I’d google winged insects in my area for an ID & keep the windows closed if not screened.

Are you finding these flies around the rest of the house? Do you have a trash can with any food in it in your bedroom? These are really weird questions lol.

Sounds like the voice of experience! Did it resolve your fly issues?
Thankfully we don't have flies here....but we do have pigeons...they're not so fussed about stinky socks but they are partial to a few chips

Looks a bit like a mozzie

Usually they come into your house if there is light or if your house is warmer.

Check the areas outside your house.
They usually have nest nearby or some plants/shelters for them to rest at night.

Clear all the bushes, stagnant water, drains, etc near your house or spray some insecticide to kill them.

If an indoor source has been eliminated (empty trash, general cleanup), check weather stripping around your windows and any doors to the outside. I don't know the specific bug you have but it looks a bit like some fungus gnats I've seen; those like to breed in the wet soil for potted plants both inside and outside and they are attracted to water like aquariums (but typically drown in it). If it is fungus gnats, yellow sticky traps work well for them.

My parents wont get a bug assault salt gun... Ya know why? Cause my little brother would use it to hold us hostage 😂😂😂

Edit: (no joke he actually would)
