I got a small spiny eel (2.5 in) about a week ago. I watched him/her dissapear under a log, after it was just looking around for about twenty minutes. Didnt look stressed out.
All other fish in the tank are smaller
2 Bolivian Butterflies (small)
2 Red/blue Colombian Tetras
6 Pristella Tetras
2 Gold Panchax (small males)
2 Bronze Coreys
1 Very Small Bristle Nose Catfish
All in a 2 ft tank with an internal 200L per hour power filter w/ a sponge medium bacterial filter and a undergravel filter. About 8 plants, bog wood and some resin logs. Small gravel and lots of hiding spots. PH = 7.0 GH=5 drops KH=5 drops no ammonia or nitrate/nitrite. All fish are very healthy and non aggressive (except the bigger male towards the smaller when feeding.
I will get a larger tank soon.
Back to my missing eel. I havnt seen him since, and have had a lid on the tank the whole time. I have fed frozed blood worms, flakes, beta pellets, freez dried red grubs, live brine shrimp, frozen green vegi blocks. Nothing will entice it out if its still in there. When I cleaned the tank I did it very carefully with a gravel cleaner took all the potted plants, small rocks, big rocks, wood w/ plant, power filter. Everything but the planted plants. Then ran my 2 fingers through the gravel and still couldnt find it. If anyone has had a simmiliar problem please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
