I'm SO sad. :-( I found my favorite (and first) cory dead this morning. Phil was a cory trilineatus. :rip:

We had a very mild case of ich in the tank about 2 weeks ago, do you think the Ich medicine had something to do with her demise? I thought I read that somewhere about cats needing half doses of ich meds? I'm worried about our other catfishes... Thoughts?

Sorry to hear about the cory :(

Ich medications can have different reactions with different fish. Catfish can be very sensative to the medications and so using a half dose is normally the way to go.

One method I always use for ich is to raise the temp to 86 (if the fish can cope with these temps). The ich parasite can not cope at these temps and after two weeks the ich goes. This article might be useful http://www.aquariumadvice.com/showquestion...aq=2&fldAuto=32

If any of the other fish look like they are having probs with the meds then I would suggest a 50% water change to dilute the remaining meds.

Hi Apache

I'm sorry to learn about Phil. :byebye:

How are your other corys? And how are the rest of the fish that have come down with ich? Corys very rarely get ich, so do not need to be treated for it. If it's possible to move them elsewhere, it's always a good idea to do it.

The tank is fine now, clear of ich. It was that bastard tetra who had the ich, who then after he was cured, promptly died. The betta got a spot or two of ich as well, so we treated the whole tank.

The tank is very good now, everybody seems happy. The other cats seem to be doing OK, so hopefully we won't lose anymore. I just bought an aeneus cory to replace Phil. His name is Bubba (kind of a joke because he's itty-bitty right now).
