I lost one of my white mollies today because of ick.. i bought the heater last night and set the temperature to around 82-83 degrees.... i came home tonight after being out all day and noticed that the parasite has cleared up noticably on my other 3 fish, but the little guy was stuck to the filter :( i wanna know how long i should wait after the ich has gone to purchase another fish to replace him? also how long should i repeat using the ich medicine, and is it ok to use it when i put a new fish in the tank just for precautionary measures? thanks

-_- What kind of medication are you using? You do not want to treat healthy fish because it could harm them. Another suggestion is to lower the temperature down to 78 degrees or so. I would wait a few weeks to be certain that the ick is gone. Hope this helps! :)

I just lost my Molly today too. :-( This was the 2nd fish I lost to Ick this week. I hope ur having better luck then I'm having.
Good Luck,

1) to be safe keep the temp a little higher than usual as it increases the half life time of ich

2) dont add fish for at least 3 weeks to make sure as its safe not to than to add fish and lose them

3) i would suggest keep treating the tank just to make sure there is none left

4) you know you are on the right track once you can no longer see the ich floating in the tank
