Hi, I've got 2no Sterbai Cories (or i did have until last night..) When I was watching the fish eating I noticed I was a cory missing, it was there 2 days ago but after a good look around the rocks & under the bogwood I couldn't see it anywhere.

Do they bury themselves in the sand ?

No evidence of a body / skeleton anywhere.

Fish are cunning little blighters at times. There was someone else on the forum a week or so ago, with exactly the same issue, they bought a replacement, only to find the original fish was alive and well, and hiding somewhere. If you haven't seen it at all in a week's time, then assume that it's died and been eaten. That's certainly happened to me a number of times.

They won't bury themselves completely in sand.

In general, best practice is to have at least 6 of a cory species, as they are shoaling, in the wild they live in groups that number into the 000s.

I've found them in the filters before as well, so always worth a glance. No idea how it got in there.
