:-( I don't know what else to do. Through a bloody stupid mistake I exposed my girls to Columnaris. Now almost all of them are dieing from it, no matter what I do. I have posted about it in Tropical emergencies but I suspect I can do nothing more.
My poor Vanity had to be put to sleep earlier this morning as it'd gotten into her brain. She was in such a bad way. I cried my heart out. I could barely bring myself to bury her as I didn't want to let her go. Now Teelie (Yes, the girl I spawned not long ago) is getting worse, along with my other CT and many of my other girls. :-( I can't say in words how bad I feel right now. I just want to cry.
Hugs,
P.

how did she get the disease?

:rip:
:byebye:

A male that was carrying it. We'd had him less then a day b4 he died of it. I'd put him in a breeding container briefly in their tank. I know, the stupidest I could ever have done. It was enough and my big blue girl contracted it and past it on to the rest. No amount of water cleans or meds is stopping this virulent strain. It's been a harsh lesson in never forgetting to quarrantine. Just wish they didn't have to pay for my idiocy. :-(

i am so sorry for the loss.

:flowers:

Awwww I'm so sorry. :-( I know how it is to lose bettas because you made a mistake, it's really not a fun thing. :( But you weren't thinking, and you never would have tried to hurt them on purpose, so it's not your fault. It's okay to feel bad but remember that. For most of us, the lessons we learn by making mistakes are the lessons we learn the best. *hugs*

RIP little girls. :(

I know it's so hard to lose one, let alone a lot. I'm so sorry. Rest In Peace girls. :rip:

making mistakes is part of fish keeping no matter how heartbreaking the outcome may be. About a month ago I went out to dinner and stupidly left the window in my door room opened, the temp dropped a lot that night and my boy alex (first betta I ever had) had his tank right next to the window. When I got back to my room his water was at about 52 degrees. If that wasn't bad enough I panicked and put him straight into warmer water without aclimating him, by the next morning his entire body was covered with colmunaris and a few hours later he was gone. I've never forgiven myself for that, but i have learned from it. I'm sorry for your losses :-( (big hug)

Thank you. I burst into tears when I typed the above. Can't remember the last time I cried so much in a single day. I hope I never have to do so again.
She did go quietly unlike some of the others. She was perched on a leaf in the tank and had been there quite some time. I turned the light off in there before taking the kids to bed and she had been near the glass then while I talked to her. Just an hour later and several checks and seeing no movement from her on each occassion I turned the light on and she had gone.
There's still three girls in the hospital tank. Of all 10 of mine I have only two with no signs and have lost 5. Both my favourite have gone and my most recent CT girl I had to put to sleep when I discovered her bleeding from her gills earlier. :-( She'd been getting worse throughout the afternoon but that was beyond anything I could let her live with even for a short time.
This has been one of the saddest days of my life. I rate it alongside my two miscarriages and the pain I went through after leaving my ex. If anyone ever tells me that 'they're only fish, put it in perspective' again (I don't mean anyone here) I will rip their heads off.
Hugs,
P.

So sorry. :rip: girls. You were so supportive when I feared I might have the same sad result with my one little guy. Any loss is always heartbreaking.

It's not like you set about to make a mistake or do any but good for your girls. I sobbed like a little kid when mine died a week ago while I did about everything that could be done for him and watched helplessly.
It's so sad and I hope you bounce back real soon from it.
