Hi I have lost a black guppy and a black & white mollie within the last month. Found my Mollie on floor of tank just now. I normally feed them flake food, but also have just brought a clown loach so have introduced tetra wafers - so put 3 wafers in last night as well as flakes for my other fish which include 3 guppies surviving 2 black widow tetras and 2 red cardinals which are all still hardy. I have also just introduced an air pump. Do you think I am doing something wrong. please help!!

Water parameters, set up information, etc, please.

Do you have any water test information for us such as PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate ?

This will help us out a little.

Hi Hun, no dont have water parameters lately - I did a 50% water change about 2 weeks ago and all was fine then. I have a 67L hexagonal Fish r Fun tank it was a live plant few ornaments and thats all - lost guppy 8th April which was my birthday again found at bottom of tank. Do you think I am overfeeding?

Your going to have to check your water to diagnose any possible problems. Do you have a test kit?

Have you done a fishless cycle?

Over feeding could be a problem but you need to get your water checked asap.

Your tank is too small for a clown loache and they need to be in groups of 6+.

I am new to owning tropical fish tank - have only had it since November last year.

I asked in pet shop if my tank was ok for a clown loach they said yes.

No have got a test kit and did a fishless cycle at very beginning when brought my tank - that means to leave it for a few weeks before putting fish in right?

Will go today and by a test kit.

There is a little more to fishless cycling, i would have a read here, http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=113861

I'm afraid you've fallen into the trap that many do and listen to the people at the fish shop. Your not the first and I doubt very much that you'll be the last unfortunately. A fish shop will sell you anything and tell you its ok just because they're making a sale.

Please read this as your now going to need to do a fish in cycle.

Your also going to need to buy a test kit, api master test kit is recommended as its better than the dip strips.

any other questions please feel free to ask as everyone had to start somewhere.

Good luck.
