Losing & Finding Snails

Last night I was looking at my 10g tank and I realized I could only see 2 of my 5 snails. Then I thought to look inside the filter and sure enough, they were hanging out on the filter cartridge! I plucked them off and put them back in the tank. They're fine, but I wanted to double check and make sure that was OK if they do that. I can't think of why it wouldn't be, but if it isn't I'll do what I can to keep those guys out of there.

I'm not a snail expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I can tell you that I have *grr* a snail infestation (not too bad) and a biowheel filtration system. Sometimes one crawls up there and gets jammed in the biowheel. Then the biowheel stops turning. This happened a couple of times for me - once I didn't notice for 2 days and my bacteria started dying - the tank had a mini-cycle. Just something to think about.

Oh yikes! I don't have a biowheel filter - it's a HOB but it's a cartridge filter so there aren't any works to gum up.

Good thought though!!! Definitely something to watch out for and make sure my filter's working
