looking to get a new tank

i'm looking to upgrade from a 10 gallon to a 40 or 50 gallon tank. How much should i expect to be paying and where would i get the beest price? i'm sure online places sell for less than my local Petsmart or whatever, but then i have to pay a ton for shipping, right?

now now stryker don't be testy. i wouldnt reommend buying from petsmart. i got my 30 gal there and am constantly kicking my own @ss when i see bigger cheaper tanks. If you live near las vegas theres a place called tanks alot that has great prices. im looking at a 90 gallon thats 106 bucks

How much you pay depends on where you live and what shops are close to you.

I get all my tanks second hand and so pay very reasonable amounts, it really depends where you are and what demand there is in your area.

If you're in the UK, eBay is good and Aquarist Classified, Ad Trader and local admags.

Since you haven't mentioned where you are based, if you are in the south of England and parts of mid and west england. then try maidenhead aquatics, they are very good, and full of info unlike some other LFS , also if you go for the no names varitey then they are pretty cheap. They also do good deals.

Sure we all have faves but we live all over the world. By giving your location then someone else in the group who lives close by may know of a specialty place that just does tanks or has really great deals. Up here in Canada, at least in Newfoundland we have Walmart as a chain cheap prices but not a lot of selection as far as tanks go. Ther are a couple of lfs here but quite expensive. So i usually get my equipment on the internet. Tanks i usually get through yard sales/garage sales or in the paper for sale section. HTH
