I'm looking for an inexpencsive 45 gallon filter.

DO YOU HAVE ANY RECOMENDATIONS?

fulval 4, i think that is what it is called, the biggest one they do anyway. I have the fluval 3 on one of my tanks at the moment and i find it very goodit also has a nice littel filter full thingy (tells you when it is full of fish poop and other junk:fun: ) :D. mine is the third largest unit in the range, but i have seen a larger unit than mine . hope that helps, there cheap as chips on ebay to, about 25 squid posted i think :D

dont know how it would stand up in a salt tank though mine lives in my littel brackish tank .

edit for link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fluval-4-Internal-Fi...1QQcmdZViewItem

they seem very cheap , but low feed back

Tbh u dont need much media really in marine. Just LR it does it all! :fun:

i dont understand if you have live rock in your tank does this mean the filter doesnt have to be that good because the live rock does most of it????

oh cool i have 2 filters in mine and some live rock im gona get some more LR soon aswell so hopefully mt tank will do fine iv not had it set up long also 1 of my filters has a power head on it how will this help???

power heads are a good thing and you should try and have a 20+ turn over of your tank(this normaly means using more than one) .these helps flow new water passed the live rock which allows the life that live both on and in the rock, to filter the water for you(making the internal/exturnal filter redundent :( althought still good for mechanical filteration, carbon, to name just a few new jobs it can do for you). live rock is a very very useful tool, but you must have a good amount of flow to help it do its job. :good: and agood amount of live rock :good:

hope that helps rob
