I'm planning a half land/half water vivarium for newts. The land portion will consist of bog plants, with continuously wet soil. Does anyone have any recommendations for a soil that will work well for this? I'm trying to avoid making this a muddy disaster. Suggestions regarding plants, or any other ideas you may have, are welcome.

I wonder if Pond soil would work? Safe option could be something like fluval stratum or something similar. All the ferns I have in my paludarium are doing really well as well as peace lily’s. Best of luck with the vivarium :)

My suggestions for plants on land would be alocacea, calatheas, cryptanthus, caldiums, fittonia (nerve plant), hemigraphis (waffle plant), maranta (prayer plant), monstera, philodendron, pilea, pothos, rhaphidophora, and syngonium. I definitely agree with Matt though—peace lilies and ferns should take right off for you!
