wondering if anyone out there owns a Pixie Bob? My girlfriend and I have been researching and looking for the right little one for us for about a year now. Im hoping we can find one for next spring.
If you dont know what they are then look at these links

they get to about 20-25 lb for a larger male and around 10-14 for a larger female cat. Markings and tail length vary quite a bit from what we have seen..

im wanting to know if anyone already has one or knows of someone that bought one already. Im just looking for a reputable breeder that would be able to provide the cat that is right for us.. its hard to find exactly the right one for each person. personal experience will provide me with good questions to ask and hopefully net me better results.

They are just a well bred domestic house cat with the desireable traits that are similar to a wild bob cat. They have no wild blood in them and thus will be a very calm easily trainable, yet large cat. its not the type of cat you would ever worry about with your children..

try this : breeder log

i just googled it for canada and these came up.

ANY reputable breeder will allow you to visit early, so you can see the mom, dad and kittens all growing in the home. this will help you to determine a good kitten :good:

thank you for the help. ive already been through that page many times lol. Im just asking to see if i can find someone that has personal experience and already owns a pixie. I already know almost everything you can learn through google and ive looked at almost every breeder between bc and texas. I need personal experiences for us to get to the next step of finding the one that is right for us.

Its really not possible to drive and go see the mom/dad cats because chances are that the breeders that we can go see will be atleast 16 hours drive from where we live. although i would love to do so, its just not realistic for us. kittens often dont follow the exact traits of their parents so just looking at the mom/dad will only give a very general idea of what to expect. its always going to be a crap shute with pixie bobs as far as specific traits.
ANY advice is apreciated!

sorry, cant help with pixie bobs, dont have them in uk apparently. i'd personally never heard of them either.

kittens DO tend to take on traits of the parents. One of mine is the baby of my cat. He is SO like Bella its untrue. my friend has one of the others and she is also like the mom.

theyre all very daft and soft natured, and they all lie on their backs to sleep!

personally, if you need to know anything you really need to visit the breeder.

i did with my pup we had to go and see the breeder, the mom and the dad. sat and watched personalities, pups etc.

if theyre really what you want, then you may have to do it

there is so many cases with pixies where they dont take on their parents traits. for example, a mother can have a full length tail and the babies will have 3 inch tails over and over. It has happened the other way around too. also the father may have jowel tufts and the babies show no trace of them when full grown. these are just examples, i know in some cases these traits always repeat but some breeders just arent as successful. im trying to weed out those breeders. im trying to find catterys that can guarantee these traits that i desire, some cant do that..

I was just trying another avenue on this forum. might as well close this thread please...

We have quite a few breeders in the UK, kittens here go for anything from around £400 to £1000 or more.

Lovely looking cats, so wild looking. I myself keep bengals, another cat that originally came from a wild cat. Let us know how you get on
