 This drives me crazy! I go to my LFS and all they have is those "Betta in a cup" Ones.(I hate that, they take horrible care of them  ) Anyhoo, all of the Bettas I find are realy out of shape and beat up. One time I found a powder blue half moon in a cup and he was gorgeous! :hyper: I bought him and he died from unknown causes....I just found him dead one day.(The water was at a constant 70 degrees and he was in a 5 gallon and fed freeze dried bloodworms every day)
So back to why I even posted. I'm tired of going on the internet and finding a awsome Betta(Aquabid, Betta breeding sites) only to find shipping is 30-40 dollars, plus the price for packing and the Betta! :-( I have a Betta now whos pretty nice. He's a typical Veiltail with green and red mix colors on his body.(Don't get me wrong, I love the little guy! )
Yeah, I just thought I'd get that out because I really want a quality Betta without the insane shipping prices. :X

me too,
we only get to common ones here in england unless ne one can tell me otherwise

70 degrees is a bit cold for bettas. Also, I've heard freeze dried foods can be rough on their little insides.

i totally agree on the shipping prices...and there aren't many breeders in canada either (at least I haven't found them yet). if anyone knows of any betta breeders in canada or have websites of some, please let me know!!! i really want to get another crowntail.... but they are hard to find in the pet stores.

there are lots of breeders in canada, even some on this board!
dont forget bc bettas!

I just called my LFS and I asked them if they get Half Moon males. I dont know of any LFs that gets these. They actually special ordered one for me! :D The down side is that I can't choose the colors. :/ Oh well, it will be a nice surprise though! I was sceptical at first though because I though it would be a mutt like a veiltail mixed with a Half Moon, but they assured me they he will be pure Half Moon, and he will be high quality (this LFS is very good and reliable so I beleive them). He should be in the stire by Wednesday. I can't wait! :) :flex:

EDIT: This place is tottaly against the "Betta iin a Cup" thing. All of their specimens are in filtered 2.5g+ tanks. I trust my HM is in good hands and I'm only paying $8 for him! :p

i'm so grateful that my LFS has awesome bettas.. and that I get all my fish for free hahaahah... and some supplies. It's fun being good friends with them :3 Plus they treat their fish awesomely... since they are a specialized store I guess...

Yeah for some reason, I RARELY feed my bettas freeze dried bloodworms... it's not because they don't like it or anything.. I just don't do it too often. I need to restalk on live brine shrimp and freezedried brineshrimp... but right now they're happy with their wardley and hikari pellets, mixed with some tubifex worms and some other goodies :)

I always have my tanks humid and warm... it's better for the fish. Any tropical fish appreciates humidity, just don't over do it, however.
