Im looking for a schooling fish in the 1 - 1.5 inch range, that will get along with these species:

5 White Cloud Mountain Minnow
7 Black Skirt Tetra
1 Pearl Gourami/Delta Betta
3 African Dwarf Frogs
Amano Shrimp
Filter Shrimp

My tank is a Juwel Rio 125. I dont want neons, cardinals are a possibility, although i'd like something a little less common. I like the look of red coral/purple dwarf pencilfish but ive read they arent really suitable for a community tank?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated, i'll probably get a shoal of 6 - 8 of whatever I choose.

You do not have room for another school of 6-8 fish of another species, if you really want some more fish add to your WCMM and Black Skirt numbers, I would add 3/1 respectively. Give the social fish you already have better social numbers.

......Chili rasbora. I like Celestial Pearl Danios but read that they wont actually shoal together?

CPDs are fantastic schooling fish, they will keep together even when not threatened. Chilli rasbos, on the other hand, are shoaling, rather than schooling, and only stay together when they feel under threat. In my experience.

With the current stocking plan AND a shoal of 6 Columbian Tetras aq advisor says im around 88% stocked, go figure (I decided against the columbians). Obviously if I feel the tank is getting over crowded as I add fish my plans will change.

That site is notoriously inaccurate, which is why we advise people to not rely on it.

Thinking about it, I have to agree with NOTG, especially if you stock a pearl gourami- they are very deep bodied fish and fully mature are pretty big for a community fish.

Hmmm ok, I always thought it was good to use as a rough guideline?

In any case my plans have changed slightly:

7 Black Skirt Tetras
1 Pearl Gourami
2 Bolivan Rams
2 African Dwarf Frogs
5 Amano Shrimp
1 Filter Shrimp

Would that stocking be acceptable? And would there be any room left for a small school? (apart from the gourami and black skirts the rest stay in the middle/bottom of the tank).

I think you should decide for either a pearl gourami or Bolivian rams, not both. I don't think your tank is quite big enough to support both with the rest of your stocking, but that's just IMO.

Do you have the frogs yet? I've never really heard good things about these as they can be difficult to feed and messy little things.

If I was you i'd go with
7 Black Skirt Tetras
2 Bolivian Rams
Shrimp
And 6-8 of another small shoaling tetra.

What's happening to your WCMs - I see from your signature you already have them but seem to have taken them out of your stocking list.
