I currently have 1 x t5 that's about 2 foot long

My lid is only a few inches bigger

Is this a decent type of light?

My plants are growing well, they jus don't look healthy. Iv been contemplating UV, as I think it would make the fish look really cool! Is it ok for the fish? Would it damage the plants?

You might find the colour of your tube is not bringing out the fish colouration, you wanna aim for 6500K, this is daylight colouration. How many watts is the bulb, do you dose any ferts and what are your tank dimensions and volume?

hi, tank is

70cm x 41cm x 36cm

il upload a picture of the light bulb now as i avnt a clue what wattage it is

Think it's 6500k already

Never used plant food or co2 but iv bought a co2 system jus waiting on delivery

If your gonna add CO2 you'll need ferts with N&P so give aqua essentials a check, they do nourish and nourish+ the nourish is your basic plant ferts and the + has the N&P you'll need for the CO2 addition. Grab a bottle of both but buy twice the amount of + as its double dose of the regular nourish. Cheap for an all in one too. P.S. If you want to upgrade to some LED's give me a PM. Oh and your lighting is considered as quite low BTW.

Yeah I thought it might be crap hence the cheap all in price

What's the advantages of led?

Cheaper running costs, very low voltage, the LED's have a nearly 20 year lifespan if used for 8 hours every day which is what you should have max in a planted tank. Give out much higher output of light at lower wattage and are much brighter then regular tube lighting.
