i went fish shop today just for a look around when i saw a tank with a few of these in and i fell in love i could see there little hearts beating so i baught 2. so cute
Those are hillstream loaches. They need slightly lower temperatures. around 70 degrees i believe. they also need very fast running water. I hope u have an extra tank because about the only thing they could go with is White cloud mountain mijnows
They can adapt to LOW tropical temperatures, like those suited to most bettas. However, as already said they need much faster flowing water so wont appreciate the calm conditions of most betta tanks.
I keep three in my 50 gallon tank where temp is about 75. It's full of guppy fry in there.
They like to rest under the filter return where there is more waterflow but they do travel all around the tank.
They are cool to watch in grups as they chase each other around and all.
You should keep river stones in the bottom of the tank. If posisble, put a little powerhead near them as they will feel more at home
I also have one in my 20 gallon tank. temp is about 75 too.
One day, I changed about 50% of the water and didn't turn of filters. The little bugger actually climbed the glass, out of the water, letting only the water return run on his back! it was awesome to watch
They help keep the windows algea free and seem quite hardy form my short experience with them.
