I have seen that done on a large scale at the Biodome in Montreal. huge tank mixed with Amazon jungle above. It doesn't look like it would work in this set up though. There doesn't seem to be much room for the fish to swim. The undergravel filter system would be useless. Most likely it would end up being a very expensive stand with dead fish and plants and stinky water.
My LFS has a display tank like that, the tank is about 6 feet high and 6 feet wide, about 20 inchs is filled up with water, and a divider runs down the middle so aggressive South American cichlids are kept on one side, and schooling amazon charicans on the other. its pretty cool, especially since in the upper part they have some Iguanas and lizards crawling around on the driftwood.
It seems like a pretty cool concept, but I think you would have to consider a sump if you were doing it on such a small scale
To put something like that, or make something like that become a wall or divider between rooms in your house. Like between your living room and dining room. Like a 10 ft. one or something with lots of plants and little fish. You'd sure have good fresh oxygen in your house that's for sure. And little fishies TOO!!!
I am so glad you took a look and commented. I was thinking of making one myself. All of your comments are very helpful, and have given me many ideas. Thanks.
