499.99$

Just startin some conversation, Nate :)

Rarest fish I have ever personally seen for sale was a tiger ray (freshwater stingray) at one of my LFSs. They had two that retailed for $500 a piece. Most expensive I have seen was a 3ft nurse shark at another LFS for $800.

Wow, Nate. Nice find... a pinecone fish, huh? Very interesting blurb about their bioluminescent bacteria. http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Di....cfm?pCatId=368

I haven't been to liveaquaria's website in a really long time; I've never had a saltwater tank, but I used to just read their descriptions alot. I think the most expensive fish I saw at a LFS was a tassled filefish for $150 which liveaquaria lists for $60.

Theres an LFS here in Adelaide that has a true pair of Harliquin shrimp. They are going for $500.

there was a topic a while back about sharks. some provided a link of where to get sharks and i checked it out and found out that they can cost several thousand dollars. btw the most ive spent on a fish was 25 bucks.

The pineapple fish is really good looking, but isn't a great fish to have for most tanks.
It is pretty nocturnal, so you wont see it much during the day, and it needs good caves to hide in.
It doesn't do well with aggressive/boisterous tankmates.
It will feed best at night.

I guess it would be pretty good for a species tank in a bedroom, so you could see the bioluminescence at night.

I came very close to buying one of those fish. It was £90 at my LFS but by the time i'd researched it at home and gone back it was sold. Very cool fish and definitely one i'm going to keep in the future.

I spent 80 on a fish once.

BTW in the Us you can get a true pair of harlequin shrimp for 50-100 USD

Yes, as with many things, in Australia the price of livestock and equipment is quite dear.

The most ive personally spent on a fish, the same, $80AU. For my Dwarf Lion.

The most expensive we have seen locally is a red arrowana... currently up for over £1000

Its chipped and comes with a certificate though :D

the most we've paid is for the zebras (and i'm not telling what that was)

The most Ive ever spent is £30 for discus but Id be prepeared to spend alot more if it was something I really wanted.....cant think of anything though.

I once saw a breeding pair of blue lobsters for £40, not that £40 is expensive but if I had room id have been tempted but I have as female and I think I'll stick with her for now although breeding them would be nice.
