Ok trying not to worry - currently keeping it together.

I was cleaning my gravel a couple of weeks ago and noticed a number of 1 - 2 inch long red worms being sucked up through the gravel pipe – and each one put up a long fight – so they seem strong – any ideas what they are?

They look like very thin and long red centipedes. Ok they may not have millions legs but they do not look healtly

Do I need to worry? I do feed some frozen blood worms non live

Cheers

They might have come on a plant or something, I'm not sure. I'll check my fish book and see if I can find anything.

I don't see them in here, and they said that the only listed the most destructive ones (Dragon fly larvae, Hydra, Water Tigers), so I think that you should be ok.

thanks dothedew

I noted the worms before I added my new plants, also they were red not white - almost like bloodworms - :S

but I have not added any live ones

I have not seen any one eat them, all my fish are fine. they seem to live in the gravel
2 inch deep

cheers
