My LFS has quite a few shrimp in at the moment labeled long nosed shrimp :/ im going to assume this isnt the proper name for them and wondered if anyone could help? i asked about amano shrimp and they didnt have a clue what i was talking about  the shrimp they do have in though are really nice, but im wondering if they would be ok in my tank with the chain loaches. all i have in my tank are the loaches, zebra danios and one molly-anyone recommend any other shrimp i could get? my tank is around 11/12 gallons. Thanks in advance! :)

What did they look like? Anything like this:

or this:

? :)

Yep thats the ones! so according to petshrimp, they are either red nosed or yellow nosed shrimp. will have to have a closer look the next time im in the shop to see what colour nose they have! lol

doesnt give too much info about them in petshrimp though-wonder if they'd be ok in my tank or not :/

oh, three-fingers:
im sure it was you that recommended a african giant filter shrimp to me not too long ago-i really like the look of these and wondered if you knew of any other good websites with info about them? im sure they are too big to be kept in my current tank, but im planning to get a BIG tank next year sometime and these would be a lovely addition to that :D

I think your lfs probably have the red nosed ones, since at the time the article on yellow nose shrimp was written, they weren't available even from the internet. So if they are available at all now they will be extremely rare and expensive.

African filter shrimp links:vaquahobby and aquabase(French translation) are pretty good for getting other peoples experiances with them :) .
