I noticed in my LFS yesterday that they were selling "Long Fin Panda" corydoras. They looked very pretty! Anyone have any info on these? Are they just a mutation? Would they get along with my other Panda's and sterbai's?
I have long fin pandas. They are just fine healthy lovely little guys. They are aquarium developed and not natural to the wild. They were bred for the characteristic of long fins. According to evolutionists we are all just mutations. Some mutations were also line bred, such as the kings and queens of Europe.
If your sterbai and pandas are getting along fine then these would do well. I will add though that aquarium bred pandas in general and long fins in particular are sometimes sensitive. The sterbai temperature requirements are at the upper end of the scale and for pandas at the lower end. But really if your fish are happy together then it works. I would be cautious to begin with the long fins; start them in quarantine and allow them to gain some stature. Sterbai can be very active.
I don't have the longfin pandas, but I do have the longfin albino peppers. I love them! They are my favorite, and most active fish I have right now.
The lf pandas are very pretty, and if that is what you want... then I would get them. Mutation makes it sound really bad. Some words do that. I really don't think it is all that bad. Many people keep longfin corys.
It isn't like they are injecting them with stuff that will kill them or constantly hurting them. That would be bad.
If you get them... let us know how they do.
