Lonely Jack Dempsey...

I have recently purchased a baby Jack Dempsey, only 1.5 inches, but I know how large they get: I had one many years ago, about 8 inches, in a community tank.
I have the new one in a 20G octagonal tank til he grows, but wonder what other small fish I could introduce?
We did have a 14 month old plec in but he has passed over.

This is not a recommendation, but I have my 2.5" JD with a female 1.75" convict in a 10! and they get along peachy. I did have a male in there instead, that did not work out, they wouldn't stop brawling. I will move them to bigger as soon as I can get a bigger tank. Good Luck!
