Oh well... at least *someone* got a good laugh at me! Namely other member of staff... nearly collapsed laughing at me...

Im well known for stupid incidents... like accidentally plumbing up the sandbed filter... the wrong way round and pumping the whole lot of sand over the coral vat... and 3 hurs later after fixing it... doing it again!

But this time i think i hit a new low! LOL

I turned on the tank lights and after walking past it a few times, i looked closer and got really confused and then worried! I saw what looked the me to be either a dead or dying snail without a shell!

Now... i can see some of you might have guess what it is already...

In my defense, i have what i thought was a rogue snail which turns out is a type of snail munching whelk and i cant catch the begger! So i thought the whelk had attacked again and pulled a turbo out of its shell...

It was really writhing and squirming as if it looked in pain....

I was running around like a headless chicken trying to think if i could save it! So what did i do? I put in a few empty shells next to it and hoped for the best!

(i swear it looks like a naked turbo!)

After about 10 minutes its writhing was even more frantic and it was looking really miserable for itself...

When i had a bit of a "lightbulb turned on" moment....

And used a longhandled algae pad to flip the snail over... only to realise it was a really stupid Stomatella that had fallen off the glass and got well and truely stuck on its back!!

Im such an eejit!! I love the Stomatella, if they were out more, i would just have a tank full!!

He is happily mooching about now! Good job i feel the need to take photos of my stupidity then isnt it!!

:S Im a loony!

You nut. LOLOLOL

I love stomatellas. OMG, they are fabulous snails to have. I have a bunch that came as hitch hikers and I love them.

When i had my fluval edge set up, i used to collect 2-5 stomatella a day out of the sump at work and take them back to my fluval edge. It was mental... i had 23L FULL of stomatella... and a mantis shrimp who jumped through hoops for food LOL.

I dont intentionally touch them any more... I learnt the hard way!

If spooked the fall in half  and then both halfs crawl all over you.... i was nearly sick! I though i had killed it and then i couldnt get it off me!

I picked mine up with out a problem. Guess it wasn't spooked. :p

I like mantis shrimps, I have no room for one and I already consider my tiger pistol too messy.

Everyone has room for a mantis! So you lie!!!!!

Find someone with a pest species and get it out the tank to keep as a pet. Thats what i did, Mr Googles ended up being scraped off the desk into my hands in time for the hammer to hit the desk and not him. I couldnt let them kill him LOL

He lived in 23 liters for ages with a sailfin blenny, a hermit crab, a turbo snail and a load of corals...

He was a... *checks spelling* Gonodactylaceus falcatus one of the more common pests....

He was brilliant! Learnt tricks, hand fed.... even sat on my hand in the tank!!

EDIT: Made it sound like he died.... he didnt, i moved house 3 times this year and couldnt face moving the tank for a third time and he is living a life of luxury in someones sump now!

Of course I'm reading all this about the mantis, blah blah blah very nice, and I notice one thing...

You had a sailfin blenny!!!! I love those fish!!! I'm wanting of one. They are ugly, but I find them appealing and cute. I would like a mantis one day. They are cool. But a peacock mantis, that color is sick.

23l is a cute size for a tank. I have an empty 8g, a bit bigger than that. If I had an extra cover, I'd totally do another SW tank.
